Quick Answer

A first Botox appointment usually takes 30 to 45 minutes, and the injections themselves take only a few minutes. You meet with your provider, talk about your goals, get a quick skin check, and then receive a few small injections with a very fine needle. Most people say it feels like a quick pinch. You can go back to work the same day. Results start to show in a few days and reach their full effect in about two weeks. At Elite Med Spa in Berwyn, Botox Cosmetic is $13 per unit, with other options like Xeomin and Dysport at $9 per unit and Daxxify at $10 to $12 per unit.

Thinking about Botox for the first time? You are not alone. It is one of the most popular cosmetic treatments in the country, and most of our new clients walk in with the same questions:

Will it hurt? Will I look frozen? How much will it cost? What actually happens in the room?

This guide answers all of it. We walk you through your first appointment step by step, explain the four wrinkle relaxers we offer, show you real pricing, and cover what to do before and after so you get the best result.

What Is Botox?

Botox is a purified protein that relaxes specific facial muscles for a few months. When those muscles relax, the lines they create soften and smooth out.

It works best on dynamic wrinkles, which are lines that form when you move your face. Common examples:

  • Frown lines (the “11s” between your eyebrows)
  • Líneas de la frente (horizontal lines when you raise your brows)
  • Patas de gallo (lines at the outer corners of your eyes when you smile)

Botox can also help prevent new lines from forming by limiting the repeated muscle movement that creates them.

“Botox” is a brand name, but people often use it to mean any wrinkle relaxer. At Elite Med Spa, we offer four FDA-approved options. We explain the differences below.

¿El Botox es adecuado para usted?

Botox may be a good fit if you:

  • Have lines that show when you frown, squint, or raise your eyebrows
  • Want to soften lines without surgery or downtime
  • Want to slow down new lines from forming
  • Are in good general health

Botox is not right for everyone. Tell your provider if you:

  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Have a neuromuscular condition
  • Have an infection or active skin issue where you want treatment
  • Have had a reaction to a botulinum toxin product before
  • Take blood thinners or other medications

Botox also does not fix everything. Deep lines that show even when your face is still, or volume loss in the cheeks, often need other treatments like dermal fillers. Your provider will tell you honestly what Botox can and cannot do.

Botox vs Dysport vs Xeomin vs Daxxify: Our Wrinkle Relaxer Options

All four are FDA-approved products made from botulinum toxin type A. They work the same basic way. The main differences are how fast they start working, how long they last, and how many units your treatment needs.

ProductPrice at Elite Med SpaTypical OnsetTypical DurationEs bueno saberlo
Botox Cosmético$13 / unidadAbout 3 to 5 daysAbout 3 to 4 monthsThe most studied and best-known option
Xeomin$9 / unidadAbout 3 to 7 daysAbout 3 to 4 monthsNo added proteins, a “pure” formula
Dysport$9 / unidadOften 2 to 3 daysAbout 3 to 4 monthsUses more units per area than Botox
Daxxify$10 a $12 / unidadA few daysAround 6 months for many patientsLongest-lasting option

Botox Cosmético

The original and most widely used wrinkle relaxer. It has the most research behind it and is FDA-approved for frown lines, forehead lines, crow’s feet, and neck bands. A great choice for first-timers who want the most proven option. Elite Med Spa is a Platinum Level Botox provider.

Xeomin

Xeomin has no accessory proteins, only the active ingredient. Some people choose it for that reason, and some long-term users switch to it. Its units are dosed about the same as Botox, and at $9 per unit it is often the most budget-friendly choice.

Dysport

Dysport often starts working a little faster. It spreads slightly more, which some providers like for larger areas such as the forehead. Dysport units are measured differently, so treatments use roughly 2.5 to 3 times as many units as Botox for the same area. That is why the per-unit price is lower.

Daxxify

Daxxify is the longest-lasting option. In its FDA trials, many patients kept their results for around six months, compared with about three to four months for the others. It uses a peptide stabilizer instead of human or animal proteins. It usually takes more units than Botox for the same area, but you may need fewer appointments each year.

Not sure which to choose? That is normal. Your provider will recommend one based on your face, your goals, your budget, and how often you want to come in.

How Much Does Botox Cost in Berwyn?

Wrinkle relaxers are priced por unidad. Your total cost depends on which product you choose, which areas you treat, and how strong your muscles are.

Elite Med Spa 2026 Neurotoxin Pricing

ProductPrecio
Botox Cosmético$13 / unidad
Daxxify$10 a $12 / unidad
Xeomin$9 / unidad
Dysport$9 / unidad

Dysport is dosed at roughly 2.5 to 3 times the units of Botox per treatment area. Ask your provider for a full quote.

Why the lowest price per unit is not always the lowest total

Because each product uses a different number of units, compare the total cost per area, not just the price per unit.

Here is an example for frown lines (the “11s”), using the standard FDA label dose for each product:

ProductStandard Label DoseEstimated Cost
Xeomin20 unitsabout $180
Botox Cosmético20 unitsabout $260
Daxxify40 unitsabout $400 to $480
Dysport50 unitsabout $450

How to read this: Xeomin has the lowest total for this area. Daxxify costs more per visit but may last about twice as long, so the cost per month can be similar. Your actual dose may be higher or lower based on your muscles and goals. This table is only a guide. Your provider will give you an exact quote before any injection.

Before Your First Botox Appointment

A little prep helps you get the best result with the least bruising.

About a week before:

  • Ask your doctor whether it is safe to pause fish oil, vitamin E, aspirin, or ibuprofen, which can increase bruising. Never stop a prescribed medication without your doctor’s approval.
  • Avoid scheduling right before a big event. Give yourself at least two weeks for full results.

The day before:

  • Skip alcohol, which can increase bruising.

The day of:

  • Come with a clean face, or plan to remove makeup at the spa.
  • Eat a normal meal.
  • Bring a list of your medications and supplements.
  • Bring photos of looks you like, if that helps you explain your goals.

Your First Botox Appointment, Step by Step

Here is what happens from the moment you walk in.

Step 1: Check-in (about 5 minutes)

You fill out a short health form. This covers your medical history, medications, allergies, and past treatments.

Step 2: Consultation (about 10 to 15 minutes)

This is the most important part. Your provider will:

  • Ask what bothers you most when you look in the mirror
  • Watch your face as you frown, raise your brows, and smile
  • Explain which areas to treat and which product may fit you best
  • Talk through the number of units and your total price
  • Set honest expectations for your result

Ask anything. There are no silly questions on your first visit.

Step 3: Photos and marking (a few minutes)

Your provider may take before photos so you can compare later. Some providers mark injection points on your skin with a small pen.

Step 4: Cleansing

Your skin is cleaned to lower the risk of infection. Ice may be used to numb the area and reduce bruising.

Step 5: The injections (about 5 to 10 minutes)

Your provider uses a very fine needle to place small amounts of product into specific muscles. A typical area takes a few quick injections.

¿Duele? Most people describe it as a quick pinch or a small sting. It is over fast. Numbing cream is usually not needed, but you can ask.

Step 6: Right after

You may see small bumps where the injections went in. These look like tiny mosquito bites and usually fade within 20 to 30 minutes. Your provider will go over aftercare and schedule your follow-up.

Total time: Most first appointments take 30 to 45 minutes, including the consultation.

Botox Aftercare: The First 24 Hours

Follow these steps to help the product stay where it was placed.

Do:

  • Stay upright for about 4 hours after treatment
  • Gently move the treated muscles (frown, raise brows, smile) for the first hour if your provider suggests it
  • Use ice for a few minutes at a time if you have swelling or a small bruise
  • Go back to work and normal daily tasks

Avoid for about 24 hours:

  • Rubbing, pressing, or massaging the treated area
  • Hard workouts and heavy sweating
  • Lying face-down, including massages and facials
  • Saunas, steam rooms, and hot yoga
  • Alcohol, which can increase bruising

Avoid for about 2 weeks:

  • Facials, microneedling, and other face treatments near the injection sites, unless your provider clears them

When Will You See Results?

Time After TreatmentQué esperar
First few hoursSmall bumps fade. No visible change yet.
Days 2 to 5Muscles begin to relax. Lines start to soften.
About 2 weeksFull result. This is the time to judge your outcome.
About 3 to 4 monthsMovement slowly returns (up to around 6 months with Daxxify).

Your 2-Week Follow-Up

Everyone’s muscles respond a little differently. That is why a follow-up check at about two weeks is important.

At this visit, your provider looks at your result. If one area needs a small adjustment, it can be done then. Many first-timers start with a conservative dose and adjust at this visit. It is always easier to add a little than to wait for too much to wear off.

Possible Side Effects

Botox is very safe when done by a trained, licensed provider. Common side effects are mild and short-lived:

  • Small bumps at injection sites
  • Mild redness or swelling
  • Small bruises
  • Mild headache

Less common:

  • A heavy feeling in the forehead as you adjust
  • Temporary drooping of an eyelid or brow. This is rare, usually related to placement or product spreading, and wears off.

Get medical help right away if you notice trouble swallowing, speaking, or breathing, or muscle weakness away from the treatment area. These are very rare but serious.

Common First-Timer Worries

“Will I look frozen?”

Not with the right dose. A skilled provider aims for softer lines while you can still show expression. First-timers often start with a lighter dose and adjust at the follow-up.

“What if I don’t like it?”

Botox is temporary. Movement slowly comes back over a few months. There is no long-term commitment.

“Will people notice?”

Most people will just say you look rested. Good Botox is subtle.

“What happens if I stop getting Botox?”

Your muscles simply return to how they worked before. Your lines do not get worse because you stopped.

“Am I too young or too old?”

There is no perfect age. Some people start in their late 20s or 30s to help prevent lines. Others start later to soften lines they already have. What matters is your goals and your skin.

“Is Botox only for women?”

No. Many men get Botox, most often for forehead lines, frown lines, and crow’s feet. Men’s facial muscles are often stronger, so they may need more units.

How Often Do You Need Botox?

Most people come back every 3 to 4 months for Botox, Dysport, or Xeomin. Daxxify users often come back around every 6 months.

With regular treatment, some people find they need touch-ups less often over time.

Pair Botox With Other Treatments

Botox relaxes muscles, but it does not add volume or improve skin texture. For a fuller refresh, many clients combine it with:
